A place to connect with community and spirituality
Congregation Beth El of Fairfield was founded in 1954 by members who wanted to form an egalitarian congregation which would serve a diverse number of people, young and old, single and married, young couples and families in Fairfield and the surrounding towns.
As the only Conservative synagogue in Fairfield, we believe our congregation of 350 families enjoys the best of all worlds: an environment small enough for all congregants to benefit from spiritual warmth and close friendships, yet large enough to sustain a myriad of diverse activities.
At Beth El, men and women worship side by side, with women congregants being counted in minyan and having the opportunity to read Torah at services. Weekly Shabbat and holidays and festivals are always a special time for the Beth El family. A very active Sisterhood provides numerous educational and social activities throughout the year.
Beth El's religious school, for children in grades K through 8, is unparalleled in its commitment to providing a meaningful Jewish education in a supportive atmosphere. The K'Tanim preschool strives to help the children develop a sense of pride and commitment to Jewish values and ideals. Junior Congregation, Tot Shabbat and Family Shabbat are offered to meet the needs of all children from preschool to Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Beth El's strong emphasis on education also encourages participation in community action, Tikun Olam.
Large print prayer books and hearing enhancements are provided. The building is accessible for wheelchairs.
